Frequently Asked Questions
What counts as a "subject area enrolment"?
Each worker enrolled in one programme (e.g. IMM Millwright) counts as one enrolment at $49.95 CAD, one-time payment for 30-day access. A worker enrolled in two programmes counts as two enrolments. Workers not enrolled in any programme are not charged.
Can I add workers or subjects later?
Yes. Additional workers or subject areas are a new enrolment at the same flat rate. There is no subscription, so there is no recurring charge and nothing to cancel.
How does billing work?
Each enrolment is a one-time payment through Stripe — no subscription and no recurring charge. For employers, RISL contacts you after payment for your worker list and issues each worker's access within 2 business days of receiving it. Access is worker-specific and valid for 30 days from the date it is issued; the assessment must be completed within that window.
What are the pass gates and result levels?
RISL sets its own pass gates: 90% for Red Seal trades and 95% for the CMRT reliability programme. Trades: 90%+ Certificate of Completion (recommended refresher interval 2 years); below 90% not yet passed, with a retest window. CMRT: 95%+ Certificate of Completion; below 95% not yet passed, with a retest window.
Which geographies are supported?
Programmes serve operations in Canada, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and the wider Caribbean. Trade codes are Ontario and Red Seal designations, with Trinidad and Tobago codes where they differ (for example, RAC).
How are results shown?
Each worker's result level is shown when the assessment is completed, using the pass gates above.
Is this accredited by Red Seal or SMRP?
The RISL Living Competency System is a refresher and readiness preparation tool, not a formal accreditation body. It does not replace the official Red Seal interprovincial exam or the SMRP CMRT credentialing process. RISL is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Red Seal Program or SMRP.
